Overlay or Tear Off & Re-Roof in MN?
At Minnesota Roofing & Leafless Gutters we offer tear-off and re-roofing, or roof overlay services. These services are required when a roof is approaching or has reached the end of its useful life. Overlay Roofing is a process in which a new roofing system is built on top of the existing roof system. Roof overlaying is beneficial because it will:
- Increase your home’s curb appeal
- Save you time and money when compared to a tear off
- Avoid the mess of a roof tear off
- Reduce maintenance costs
- Increase your home’s property value
Of course, not all homes can be overlayed. A roofing overlay is essentially adding a second roof on top of your old roof. This means that your home will be supporting extra weight. Therefore, it is not possible to re-roof/recover your roof if you have already done a roof layover or if your roof frame is not strong enough to support a second roof.
In the cases when re-roofing/roof recovery is not an option, a tear off and new roof installation is the way to go. Tearing off your old roof and installing a new roof carries the same benefits as a re-roof/roof recovery and more because you don’t have the added weight of a second roof on your home. It will last longer than a recovery and add more value to your home than a recovery.
